Artist Statement & CV
Audree Yang is a Hmong-American illustrator and painter whose art centers around the beauty of the little life living in the Midwest of the United States of America, and the wonder of stories told through generations as the daughter of immigrants.
Her art seeks to understand the depth of the world and capture still moments of life through figurative paintings, intimate portraits, and storybook illustrations. Her main mediums are soft pastel, oil pastel, and oil painting to emphasize texture and weight to her illustrations.
She finds inspiration through good conversations, her favorite childhood storybooks, energetic music, dynamic friendships, stray cats, and catching the essence of lavender on a windy day.
As of April 2026, she is currently working on a new series of paintings that explore the spirit of memories through light and shadow as she heals through managing the grief of a lost loved one and joy of new relationships.
